Best way on the front is to attach to a trolling motor
A lot of good finders out there but I would make sure that it has gps and maps Yes most all come with xducers

Who has mounted a fish finder on the front of a pontoon?...
We are getting a G3 Suncatcher V322 FC with 2 fishing seats up front. I believe it has a basic electronics device at the helm, but I'd like to add a better finder up front.
Questions:
Any recommendations on brand/model? I don't need a flat screen TV up there - we just fish for fun, not competition
Can we mount the transducer up front or does it need to go to back?
With that - do they all have to have a transducer and do they come with one when you buy the unit?
Was thinking about getting something where I could mount the transducer to the trolling motor and keep it all up front - is that an option?
I think that's it - I'm a newbie with boat ownership and electronics - so any help/advice is much appreciated!!

I would recommend putting the best on the helm for navigation

Several options depending on budget and how you fish.
Install mount/wiring to both locations and can move FF to either location.
Buy 2 FFs; one for each location.
If only one, would probably opt for helm to aid in navigation and if mount allows it then could turn it facing front.
Although I use HB brand, you can probably get a basic Sonar/GPS model in any brand to fit your budget.

My pontoon has a bracket on the back of the pontoons for mounting the transducer. I have a helix 7 on the helm witch works great for navigation an because we mostly fish out the back, although I do have 4 fishing chairs. The Helix is on a Ram mount and I can swivel it to see from the front.

I agree with mounting the best unit with nav on the console. The gps and maps will not do any good mounted up front. I always put a good big unit on the console. I have a 9 inch on the console with a 5 inch on the front. If you are doing much crappie fishing, I would recommend getting one with DI. It really helps see the brush. I would mount it to my trolling motor so you see exactly what is under you up front. You can order most units with either a transom or trolling motor mounting bracket. Brian at BBG marine on this site can help you if you have questions about the different units. I mounted a cheap hummingbird 4 inch on my last boat up front. Under $125 and still had color and DI. By the way you can also get kits to mount the transom mounts to trolling motors for about $20.
