Knot2bad, the lithium batteries are a must, the remote is very sensitive to battery power. If batteries start to get weak the trolling motor will do weird things.

    It's not hurrying my feelings.

I don't believe bashing a product with sole intent to damage a companies rep is a positive thing to do. I guess that's just me.

since you copy/pasted this same message in other threads it struck me the wrong way.

Thanks Granite. I’ll keep it in mind. I heard one negative thing about the remote was that changing the batteries is a bit of a pain as you have to remove 4 small screws.

I used my Xi5 all of last season with no problems whatsoever. If you follow the proper set up in the book it operates as advertised. Best investment I've made in the fishing world. Couldn't do without now. Great product. Just bought a Lowrance HDS 12 & 9 Gen3 and had them networked and linked to the trolling motor. Haven't had a chance to get out and use them yet. Hoping to try them out in the near future.

Every company has issues with a product at times, no matter if it's automobiles or trolling motors. It's how they handle the problem that defines them and it appears they are trying to fix the issue.

Keep us posted. I only have a smaller aluminum tracker but was considering getting a HDS Gen 3 to link with the MG but decided to hold off because of all the additional hardware costs associated with it. With the MG only having 83/200 built in T/D I decided try it with my existing DSI unit and figure out how to rig it in the MG.
Did you also put the upgraded transducer on the back?

I've had my XI5 for almost 5 years (bought it when they first came out) on my Center Console boat. I'm linked to my Lowrance Gen3 for GPS capabilities. I've had one problem about 9 months ago. Everything shutdown, and I called MG Support. They overnighted me a Dongle Thumb Drive with a software update that took all of 5 minutes to upload. Fixed it. I've just bought a second boat with a MinnKota IPilot Link. IMO, Minnkota just ain't got there yet with the GPS Trolling Motor technology!

I got the LSS2 on the back. Just using the built in 83/200 on the Motorguide in the front. We will see if we feel we need some sort of upgraded transducer in the front.

Everything isn't rainbows and lollipops... Real hands on experience isn't bashing.
