Some of them will go crazy and spin round and round. Think they lose gps signal. I would have him call Mikita since it is new.

I have a buddy that has one and he just put iPiolt on it. First time out he broke his transducer off. He said on spot lock it turned around more than he was expecting.
How far or how many rounds will one of these motors turn before it stops?

I have seen reports where they will spin until the power cables choke it down. Most time just a couple of times. When it starts you have to be quick to unplug it. Problem is on that motor unlike the terrova you can't run transducer cable down shaft so it ends up being exposed and catches when motor spins and with out a bunch of slack it breaks transducer cable.

I have an I-Pilot and because my GPS antenna is a puck mounted on the back when I hit spot-lock the front of the boat turns and try's to hold the antenna position but because the boat is turning the antenna is turning also so the boat is like chasing it's tail. Bad setup, most new GPS units have built in antenna's which I think helps this issue.
FISHING, no better way to spend the day!
I ended up putting a spring on the transducer cable to keep the slack up. Drilled a hole through the release handle to feed the cable through.
If you hold down the left or right arrow it’ll turn 1&2/3 turns before stopping. Thing is if you let off and hit the left or right again, it’ll turn another 1&2/3 again if it has enough cable. Seems minnkota should have put a limit switch in there somewhere.
I think it’s fixed now. Will know for sure Saturday.

mine goes 2 turns and then kicks out. i used bungee cord and attached it to the transducer cable and other end to trolling motor shaft above stop collar. i think the bungee cord gets it in a bind and kicks out spot lock. i left the top end of transducer cable loose so it can wrap up if needed.
