Default Helix Low Q sonar and Mega DI transducer questions

I am very close to pulling the trigger on a new Ultrex with Ipilot Link and selling my Helix 9 Chirp GPS G2N and replacing it with a Helix 9 Chirp Mega DI G2N.

So here are my questions about the Helix 9 Chirp Mega DI G2N. & the XTM 9 MDI T

    1) Does this transducer offer the “low q” for sonar?

    2) Will it improve the detail for the chirp sonar at the display compared to what I was seeing on the Helix 9 chirp gps G2N that I ran through the US2 on the Terrova?

    3) The Helix 9 Chirp Mega DI will be mounted on the Ultrex. Is there an advantage in terms of significantly limiting RF or other interference issues by using the TM version as opposed to the transducer that will ship with the Helix 9 Chirp Mega DI?

    XTM 9 MDI T | Trolling Motor Transducers | 710270-1

    • Digital CHIRP Dual Spectrum 2D and Digital CHIRP MEGA Down Imaging
    • Dual Spectrum 2D CHIRP with 25° and 42° coverage @ -10dB
    • 455/800/MEGA MEGA DI CHIRP with 45° and 75° @ -10dB
    • Trolling motor mounted

    4) Is anyone running the transom mount version on an Ultrex without issues?

    5) I realize there is a transducer exchange program Humminbird has offered in the past. Does anyone know if the TM version is available ?

We just installed a XTM 14 20 MDI T(for Solix) on our ultrex. As far as I know Humminbird doesn't use the "Q" nominclature. I think they call it target seperation, but all chirp systems are gonna be less than q3. Chirp detail should be the same on 2d. The trolling motor mount comes with a choke to isolate the battery from the TM side. I wouldnt hesitate to try the transom mount first, we bought TM mount because our Solix isnt a mega and only came with 83-200 transducer.

Thank you Semo. I probably shouldn’t have used the Low Q reference. I guess my point should have focused more on the possibility of, does anyone have the Helix with this particular transducer to know if I will see improved quality.

My expierience with Humminbird in the past with their transducer exchange program was I needed to swap transducers with them before I used it. (New for new) But if folks are running the new Helix Chirp Mega DI on the ultrex without interference issues, no need to do the swap. I was just trying to avoid spending another $200 by trying the transducer then turning around and needing to buy a different one.

The people on BBC misunderstood what they were reading. That update for our solix is how I figured it out. The HB reps at the Grizzly Jig show didnt even know about it yet. The base model (non mega) Solix supports mega DI with that transducer. Its out if you know who to talk to in eufaula.Name: 20180201_112606_1517505967139-960x540.jpg
