Installation question
I've been lurking for awhile and now I need to post my first question.
My boat is a newer Tracker PanFish 16 with the stock MK Edge 45 TM and Lowrance Hook 3x. We just ordered a new Garmin EchoMap 73sv and I anticipate ordering a Panoptix TD in the next 6 months. Should I simply replace the Hook unit & TD with the Garmin or should I mount the Garmin TD on the TM until I get the Panoptix? What would you do?

Do you use the front unit with 2 TDs, or should I say can you use a transom mount and a trolling motor mount TD?

No. I just use one transducer up front. It is a Lowrance 2d/di combo traqnsducer. It is not mounted on the TM. It is mounted on a separate deploy device similar to Rickies Da Ducer apparatus.

Your Hook 3x is paid for ... Put it on the boat and use it for a backup ...
I have 5 units on my boat ... 1 is my original old Eagle 480 that still works ... It's out of the way - doesn't ever get used = but it's there as a backup if I need it ...

Personally, I have 2 HB 800 series. One is HD the other is SD. I put the HD on the transom so I could use the HD for side imaging. The SD is on the bow, since SI is limited in its usefulness on the bow, IMO. I use the DI and 2D and mapping mostly on the bow. I have a Lowrance HDI 5 that has DI in it and I'm thinking about adding it back on the bow just for the better DI image. JMO

I just got a Garmin 73SV and the transducer is the ClearVu xducer I will tell you that it is way too long to mount on my Minn Kota power drive
I don’t think it will fit on any trolling motor
I wanted to use it on the troller but will have to mount on the transom or build a separate pole to mount it on
I have a Lowrance side scan on the back now that I don’t want to move until I can try out this Garmin to see if I like it
