Default How to mount transducer on pontoon

My pontoon does not have a welded plate on one of the pontoons so how do I mount the transducer? I tried on the transom but it wouldn't read while running.

If your main desire is depth while running you will need the xducer mounted to the back of one of the toons as this is the only part of a pontoon thats actually in the water at speed ...

I have a toon as well. There is no place to mount a transducer on the bow. There was only one bracket on the back tubes. I wanted a transducer up fron so I could have better accuracy with the ff. I mounted the transducer bracket on a piece of 1 1/2 inch pvc. Then I mounted a vblock female on my rail and a male on the pvc. Only bad thing is you need to pull it when you run fast. Not pretty but does the job. If youd like more details or pics pm me.

regarding attachment of a transducer to my pontoon boat. Do you know of a glue or epoxy that would be strong enough to attach to aluminum?

I cant remember the name of it but its in a 2 colored tube. Its a stick and you break off what you need and sqweeze it to mix it. I was launcing my toon and there was a sharp corner on the dock. I hit it and knocked a sizable hole in one of my tybes. I loaded it up quick and pulled up and checked the hole. The docj manager came out anf ask what was wrong . told him and that we were headed home. He said hold on he could fix it. He went and got a tube he had and fixed it. It stayed on there for 3 years before I got nervous and had it welded. If youd like I could find the name of it tomm.

Panel adhesive that they use on cars should hold it. They are gluing panels together these days and claim it is stronger than a weld and the metal will pull apart before the adhesive gives way. Talk to the guys at a good body shop. You could have a bracket made and carry it to them and have them glue it. The gun and adhesive is fairly expensive for a small job. Ask them how much contact is needed to hold it successfully.

I've used JB Weld to fix leaks in my old boat. It's stood being submerged for at least two years now. You could attach a piece of poly to the 'toon the bolt the transducer on that. Just follow the instructions as to transducer depth, etc.
