Default 2016 Ulterra with I-pilot, can I convert to I-pilot link?

    OK, here is the question.

I have a 2016 Ulterra 80 with I-pilot, can I remove the control head, part number 2770206, and replace with control head, part number 2770208, and order an i-pilot link remote, part number 2994180, and part number 224704, and upgrade/change the unit to an i-pilot link unit?

    TIA,

    Brent

Great thanks, that way both my terrova and ulterra's will be the same so I can go back to the ulterra on my express.

Now I just have to order the parts, plug and play!

OK, ordered the parts on Wednesday, they came in this afternoon. Fedex dropped them off at 2:00 PM, swapped the parts and then removed the Terrova and installed the ulterra. Powered it up, hit the learn button on the Ulterra and on the remote, and it is up and running. Easiest upgrade I have ever done. now I need to change my sig line from Terrova I-pilot Link to Ulterra I-Pilot Link.

I have attached a list of all parts needed to make the conversion and to network the Ulterra. The prices listed are from 2015 and are much cheaper now for the most part. Since I had i-Pilot Link on my Terrova, I did not need the ethernet cable, cable for the USB remote charger, the DC Power adapter, my total cost for upgrade which included the Head Assembly, a new Remote for i-pilot link (I could have done with out this but wanted to have two in the boat), and the Insert Plug was $542 and the prices on the Minn Kota parts site were correct.

This is for a 2015 or 2016 Ulterra.

    Good Morning all,

Tried the Ulterra with i-pilot link out yesterday on a private Reservior outside of Jonesboro. The owner called the night before, he said he had to many crappie in his 110 acre reservoir and needed help to clean them out. So I told him I thought I might be able to help. When I got there, he was in his new boat with his grandkids letting them fish, and they came up to the ramp to help me when I launched my boat. Well, I played like the youtube commercial, got the boat ready, backed into the water, the boat launched, and I hit the remote to deploy the Utlerra, did the spot lock bit, and the boat just sat there is 25 mile an hour winds holding its position within the spot lock tolerance of last years Ulterra while I parked the truck. Man did that feel good. I then started trolling the reservoir and using auto chart mapped it in about 3 hours while catching crappie on two poles, that was all I could keep up with by myself. At about 9 I called a buddy of mine to bring two of his boys out and from 11 to 4 we fished the reservoir with 12 poles in the water while the ulterra steered following the 9 foot contour line that I had made that morning. Motor worked out great. Oh, and between the 4 of us, we caught about 150 crappie, kept the biggest 30 which were all 12 to 13 inch fish, and moved the rest to a local creek/ditch that a lot of local's bank fish for crappie so they can grow and get caught by someone else. Now I am trying to get a key to the reservoir gate, and see if the owner will let me put some crappie habitat in it. With Poinsett being out of commission for the next several years, a guy has to do what a guy has to do to get a close to home fishing spot for those afternoons when you have an hour or two and want to fish. Maybe swapping a contour map of his reservoir with the location of structures that I put in would gain me a key and the ability to fish it will have to make the proposal this week when I show him about his new boat (the man went out and bought a tracker 175 TXW with 60 HP Mercury rigged for spider rigging and has never owned a boat in his life).

Glad it's working out good for you. If you ever need a fishing partner, I'm not far from you, and always love to fish a new place, you know, if you're feeling generous.

I just checked the Minnesota on line parts ordering website and the part numbers are still good, prices look to be cheaper now.

    Oops. Wrong thread. Please delete
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, unless you fish for a living.
