WILL THAT CABLE ALLOW BOTH UNITS TO RUN 998 SI AND 859 DI AT SAME TIME AND MINIMAZE CROSS TALK,DUCERS 5 FEET AWAY.

You will only be using the transmitter of one unit you choose, the other ("slave") will be using the the selected XDCR (as "master") fro 2D.
You may or may not be able to mix and match the "Advanced" sonar, I have not been able to test my 998c HDSI and 859ci HD to see if the latest software update allows all technologies to be shared.
Let us know what your results are.
The 2D should share just fine though.

Well, obviously a Lowrance is a problem .....

Sounds like same frequency x talk. Point the di xducer up front at about 5 degree angle forward. Point the di aft 5 degree in the opposite direction. These are acceptable angles. Worth a try.

Gene, you testing in the garage? If so, move some cables around. If not, move some cables around if you can. All cables/wires are antennas of some sort.

If I'm not mistaken, I think one of Gene's problems is with his 998 and 859 running at the same time. Both transducers ping the 200 frequency for the depth reading and he's getting interference due to that. I know his 859 DI transducer is crapping out on him in the 2D mode. We determined that by trying another transducer and the 2D worked fine. So a question for those in the know. Is it possible to cut the pins for the 2D signal on the dud transducer and still get a DI picture? Without the 859 pinging 200 frequency too, maybe he would eliminate the interference. He wouldn't need to know the depth of the water on the 859, as his 998 is right beside the 859. If this is possible, and someone knows which pins are for 2D sonar, could you post a diagram of the 2D pins? What Gene is trying to accomplish, is to take advantage of the better DI picture of the 859 transducer, but then be able to use the SI picture on the 998 to determine what side of the boat the structure he sees in the DI unit is on.

This makes more sense. I had a similar problem on my Jon. Repositioning front vs rear pitch (2d only) helped solve the issue. Well gene, your broken SI unit works on a half shell doesn't it? The one you mounted backwards. I would believe that removing the pin should work. I would believe the 2d with wire removed would go in a continuous bottom search mode (rapid fire). This is the way Garmin and Lowrance would more likely work anyway.

Some transducers use a single wire to multifrequency transducers and multiplex the signals on the single wire. I just don't know the arrangement of the HB. But if your di is still working on the one with the crap out 2d, then I would try the pin.

If you were near I could scope it out for you. My scope is collecting dust.
