does this help
I'm a newbie to this and would appreciate any help here. I bought my first boat and the guy threw in an older trolling motor. The trolling motor is an OMC model OBF4A. It has a switch for either 12v or 24v. I only have the one battery to run it 12v and the red and black wires up front to hook up the trolling motor. This old trolling motor has a 4 prong plug, the guy mailed me the receptacle to hook up to my boat. It is the correct one. My issue here is: which screws on the receptacle do I hook the black and red wires from the battery? I see they are labeled with W, Z on the one side and X, Y on the other side of the receptacle. The trolling motor has all 3 wires hooked up in the plug, which is jumpered inside the plug. I currently am going to stick with the 12 volt set up due to limited money at this time. Thanks for any help! I am ready to go as soon as I get this installed.

That helped some. Thanks. Atleast I know now that the white wire is for the 12 volt side. Your diagram doesn't actually show my particular receptacle, but I think I got it figured out from this.
