Default Elusive Crappie at Caesar's Creek

Well - finally made it to Caesar's Creek yesterday and could not find one crappie. At one point I told my guy that we were not going home until we caught just 1 crappie - but that did not happen. We covered almost every inch of the lake, including the inlets and bays. Caught 2 sheep head, and one tiny blue gill. We trolled and bobber fished. Wind was a little bad. Maybe we are just not patience enough - and one can get tired after 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Buckeye Crappie Challenge is having a tournament there in September - hope the crappie make themselves a little bit more known by then.

Default Caesars Creek Skunked

Crappie-Pickgal;
Don't even bother with Caesars this time of year.I've fished it for over 20 years now and here's what i do know or at least what i think i know.In the spring when the water gets to around the 50 degree mark, fish the creek arms clear up until early June for crappies. I have caught them as early as the beginning of February in the snow, to as late as early June.You may even pick up a Saugeye-Walleye or large mouth bass.As for the fall i don't seem to do as good, but a friend of mine that does, says to wait until October for decent crappies.This friend knows of what he speaks.He's forgot more about fishing than i'll ever know.Just my 2 cents worth.

Default Thanks for you sharing

Wish the report could be better since I plan on fishing the Buckeye Crappie tournament in September.

It is really nice that we fishin nuts can share what we have learned over the years.

Default Bcc

Winning catches last year were caught not to far from Wellman Boat Ramp. 2006 were from the opposite end of the lake
