Are these record fish from these lakes or?

My wife is from Ohio and I have an offer from a Toyota dealer and to say the least we will be moving there very soon.
I love to crappie fish and will be near Eastfork lake, I have bass fished there before with a brother inlaw years ago.
My boat and truck is already there and I have been sick for the past 3 weeks not being able to fish the spawn here.
This new job should free up more time to spend with the kids and fish, the grandkids and fish, crappie.com and fish I hope.

Hey Brushcutter, East Fork is a nice crappie lake, once you figure it out. They should be turning on this week with the warm weather coming in. Obviously it is not in the league of the lakes in Mississippi, but the numbers are here and 1 pound and 1.5 pound crappie aren't unusual. Once you get set to start fishing EF, shoot me a PM and I can try to help you find some slabs. That or watch for posts from guys like starvin' fisherman, crappiemax, and a lot of others. Those guys know East Fork really well. Good luck, and bring some warm weather with ya when you come north, will ya.

Thanks for the info. on Eastfork SpeckWick, hope I won't be bringing any of this weather we are having right now,38 degrees tonite, don't know what to make of it?
The latest we should be leaving would be 4/25.
I will holler at you when I'm cut loose and get the boat ready, which should take about ten minutes once she says why don't you go fishin!,he he
I've been hearing good things about Paint Creek, or think that's was the name my brother inlaw was telling me about, he's not really a fisherman so to speak or maybe I should say looking for them is not part of the satisfaction for him.
when you go with him if you can't find them in an hour its time to quit but I have a habit of looking for them till I find them.
Again thanks, I will be looking forward to fishin with you if you feel inclined to do so.
I understand you are allowed only 2 poles and 2 baits per pole?
I spider rig mostly, so I don't know if I will have to change styles or just get used to fishing 4 poles up front with a partner?
Is it a good lake to troll crank baits?

THANKS AGAIN

You can troll crankbaits on the flats and channels, but there is a ton of standing timber and submerged wood in East Fork, so at $4-$5 a snag, I don't do it myself. Ohio is tough on crappie fishermen. You can only use two poles, so true spider rigging is out. I sometimes do a toned down version like you described, but mostly find myself flipping or casting floats and minnows or jigs to cover. There are some guys who have decent success trolling East Fork though, just not for me. As far as Paint Creek, I have not fished it in years, but I have heard good things about it the last couple years myself. There isn't much talk on here about it though, so who knows. Once you get up here and ready to fish, shoot me a private message or something and I'll try to help. Maybe not the weekend of the 25th though. I'll be fishing tournaments the 26th and 27th. Can't give away my secrets,LOL.

It's actually 3 hooks per line, not two. So, two rods, 3 hooks each.

Thanks for the info., i'm sure it will take a minute to adjust to the new rules.
I was looking thru them earlier and saw the 3 hook deal.

Looks like you will be busy w/tournaments, was looking for someone to run 4 poles with mainly, don't expect any secrets and apologize if it came off that way, cause a big part for me anyway is finding the fish like I was talking about earlier. Am having trouble finding a decent map of the lake on-line, gonna call for a topo-map tomorrow. Tell you the truth I am pumped about seeing how long it takes me to find decent size crappie in a highland resevoir, i'm assuming that's what it is?
I'm thinking they eat and act the same there as they do here, so I sould be able to find 1 or 2 here or there.
Again thanks for the replies, and I'll post some pics. if I get lucky.

I didn't take it that way at all Brushcutter. I was joking about the secrets thing. Heck, if I knew any real secrets I'd make a whole heck of a lot more money fishing tournaments. As it has been, I feel all I do is donate to the jackpot most days, but it's fun anyway. I would actually like to go fishing with someone with a lot of experience trolling or spider rigging. It is the kind of crappie fishing I am least comfortable doing. It would be great to learn from someone who knows how to do it the right way. If you ever want to get together and chase some slabs, let me know. I have pretty much the whole month of May wide open. They oughta really be lightin' it up by then.

It's a deep flood control resoirvoir--not sure I'd call it a highland in the classic sense. You'll find them--last tournament there was won by a long-line troller who usually runs roadrunners, two to a line. Come this weekend and up through mid-May, blacks should begin moving shallow, with whites soon after. Long pole and small float will work, 3-5 feet deep. After that, trolling should work well.
