Default Salt Fork info for you

I got the boat runnin and was on Salt Fork Sat and Sun with my nephew.

water temps ranged from 61.5 in the morning to 65 mid day and back to 61.5 by dark.

I'm new to crappie fishin, so naturally I'm no pro, but we managed to find crappie in 5-7 ft of water on down to 25 ft of water. We didn't try fishing any deeper than 25 ft, but saw tons of fish in the deep water near the dam.....guessing were saugeye/walleye.
We were catching fish off bottom in 20ft plus but also caught them suspended in the 20 ft range anywhere from approx 3 ft down to 15 ft or so.

Most fish were caught on road runners with minnie, but I also caught a couple others on jig/spinner slow crankin. the suspended fish were on slip bobbers trying different depths.
We just couldn't find a consistent pattern. somewhat shallow and deep both worked.
Odd fish of the weekend were a perch, several white bass, a bluegill on minnow, smallmouth, saugeye, and channel cats

That lake has been one of my favorite lakes for a few years. I just love all the bays and coves it has. Not to mention the dnr has lots of pine trees and cribs all over the lake. Just find the structure and the fish will be there.

Fished it last weekend.....temps were 54-57. Couldn't find a fish where we caught them all in mid Oct though. Will be a long day this saturday for me

Just go to the salt fork outdoors and purchase the big map hanging above the counter. It shows where the state has put pine trees in the lake. There are other spots with structure not on that map... but a fisherman's gotta have his secrets! good luck
