I remember hearing alot of talk, and reading alot of reports of the state considering a 9 inch size/ 30 fish limit on most ohio lakes (44 additional if i remember right), i googled it and looked on the ODNR web site and really didnt see anything more about it, does any one know if it stalled out, or if the odnr and the state came up with some kind of regs? hope every one has a great weekend God bless.

Adding 38 lakes to the current list of six lakes that have 9-inch minimum size limits on crappies was also approved. A bag limit of 30 crappies on all lakes with 9-inch size limits was also passed, which now equal 44 lakes across the state. Alum Creek, Caesar Creek, Deer Creek, Delaware, Seneca and Tappan Lakes have had the 9-inch minimum regulations for years.

The 38 new reservoirs are Acton (Butler and Preble counties), Atwood (Carroll and Tuscarawas counties), Berlin (Stark, Mahoning, and Portage counties), Buckeye (Fairfield, Licking, and Perry counties), C.J. I'm sure they'll enforce the heck out of it early next year. It will be interesting to see how long they really stick with it. I know at East Fork, back when they had a 16" limit on the hybrid striped bass, my dad and I were checked a few times when bank fishing for them to see that the fish we had were legal. Once the limit was lowered to 15", I can't remember ever even seeing or hearing of them checking anybody. I'm sure they did, but it was obviously not as muh as before. Hopefully they stay on the crappie limit. For years I've been saying (along with most of us) " If this lake had a size or number limit, it'd be a great crappie lake". Now I guess we'll see if that's the case or not.

That's great. Why not make it totally statewide though. Does this not include lake erie or it's tribs. One marina I fished for years the knuckleheads keep every 8" fish they catch. God only knows how many total fish they keep. It should be 9" limit, 30 fish across the entire state. Guess we have to start somewhere though.

Ok......maybe a dumb question, but if we see someone keeping fish under limit, do we just call 1800-poacher? I was always told that for hunting, but never heard much for fishing. It always drives me nuts to see people keeping 4-6 inch crappie.
