Default how far will they go?

how far will a fish travel for a condo. i am putting out bamboo in a cove near a chruch camp that is about a mile long and the deepest water i can find is about 20ft deep. but the main lake (1 mile away) has a channel that is about 30ft deep. will the fish go to the 30ft water 1 mile away or would the 20 ft of water hold the fish. does anyone know how far they will travel?

The only way your going to know is to just put it in and see if they start to hold fish. I don't think you have to worry about how far because there is probably fish already in the cove. Especially if it is 20 feet deep. Should be holding fish now. A lot of guys fish in creeks and coves that are long distances and catch fish. It's probably better that way with not as much pressure.

My thinking is there has to be fish in the area to start with. The structure holds them tighter and gives them ambush points making the easier to catch.

I think that if there is plenty of 20' water, it should hold plenty that will not go to the 30'. However, Our favorite hole near Little Rock is about a mile up a creek off of the main lake into a man made pool which is fed by the lake. The pool is 11' deep in some places. The lake only averages 6'. You would think a person could find the fish in there all year. But, the pool is only good for the fall and winter. It is littered with brush piles; so, I know that is not the reason.
