How Many Bamboo Crappie Condos to a Spot?
With my current project going on with my students (FFA) and the Corp of Engineers, it got me to thinking. What is the best number of Crappie Condos to put in one place? Say they are 12-15' tall and have a diameter of about 15'. I've placed them 3 to a spot and the Corp. with our current project is placing them 1 to a spot. I don't get to fish enough to know which would be better.
Also, if you were to drop more than two to a spot, would you group them up say in a triangle (3 condos) or square (4 condos) or put them in a line?
I'm thinking in a line, especially if there is some change in depth between them. Say start in 25' of water with the first one and by the time you get to the third one they're in 30' of water.
What do you guys think?

I like the idea of atleast three to a spot. Are you expecting these to be spawning habitat or a pre-spawn post-spawn staging area?
If it is spawning habitat I think that all the same depth would be fine, like in a straight line at a particular depth. If it is staging habitat I think a triangle with the point in shallower water and two in deeper water would be better than a straight line. Or with two in shallower and one in deeper would be fine too.

As far as how far apart, I would suggest 5-8 foot spacing apart form one another.

Great question! I wish I knew the answer, but either the square or the triangle look good to me. You probably ought to ask Darryll Morris or Jerry Blake. They've done more of these than any one else I know of.

I was hoping one (or both) of them might chime in. But I was also wanting to see what everyone else thought too.

I don't use boo but when I sweeten a spot I like to place the brush in a line on both sides of the boat this way I can fish out either side of the boat or if someone is with me we both can fish the brush piles. One is usually about 5-10 feet shallower than the other one.
