You can control the Boo by digging a ditch around your boo patch. It needs to be like 12 inches deep or so, and about say 20 inches wide or so. Boo spreads through the root system and it wont spread over a ditch. Got a friend who has boo, and thats what he was told a few years ago to stop it and he did that and it stopped and has never crossed that ditch.

That's a good idea GCF, but you'll also need to keep an eye on it during the summer to make sure no canes have been blown or knocked down because a cane laying on the ground will take root too and it'll be off and running outside the moat.
The moat is also a good idea to help with the extra water boo needs to grow.

how do you think it would do under hardwoods? all my 5 acres is wooded, cept for the house and i aint plantin that stuff near my house.

Shade
The place where I get mine is pretty shaded by hardwoods and they are doing great.
-
If you are worried about the shade cut one mature tree on the south side of your designated area.

If you're like me, your "mature hardwood" aint as hard as it used to be.
The main thing for cultivating boo is water, you need a low spot or a creek to grow good tall strong cane.
As mentioned above, plant it on the south side of your hardwoods.

I've certainly seen cane growing in woods, but it's a whole lot bushier and provides better cover if it's growing in sunshine.
