Several people mention the algae growing on the structure, but I'm not sure that it matters. Although maybe it does in lakes where you already have lots of structure. But in lakes where there is not much existing structure, fish will locate on most types of structure suprisingly fast.
Hank Parker did a show where he put a big group of crappie in his swimming pool. The fish spread out all around the pool. He threw a rake in the pool - it floated with the rake part on the top and the wooden handle sticking down toward the bottom. The crappie almost immediately lined up right behind the rake handle. No algae involved.
I'm sure not saying the algae doesn't help. It grows on my PVC trees and makes them look more natural over time.
I'd love to see some good research simular to what Hank Parker did. Throw some crappie in a pool or pond - then put a Christmas tree and a PVC tree next to each other at the same depth, then see which the crappie pick. You could go on and on with examples of what to try. Different colors of PVC, PVC with and without algae, etc.

I'm wondering if on the boo condos do you fish right on top of them, down inside them, or to the sides? Looks like they would be bad to hang up in if you dropped a jig right down into the middle. I've enver fished a bamboo condo, but they look awesome!

I've transplanted it with good success. It sends out runners - sometimes 20-feet from the host plant - and new shoots come up from the runners. You have to wait until those new shoots get a good root system started. Then you can dig them up and sever the runner. They end up with a massive root system so you want to get them at the right time or they're hard to dig up. There's plenty here if you want to come get some starter plants.

Have you looked around your area to see if there is any? There's some in Texas so you may have some around there. Once you've seen a patch it's real easy to recognize.

Say Jerry, I met up with you and Daryl 2 Januarys ago and yall gave me crappie condo 101. That was one great day, the place we had breakfast at served a good breakfast.

I went back to Eufaula with a big trailer load of boo. It was too cold then to try to transplant. I now have a place to get a patch started and would like to get some roots. Also might haul off some of the bottoms for making stake beds, they worked out pretty good. I have access to some small boo, gets 1 inch thick and about 10 ft tall. Make condos that tall out or em.

Say before I left out of Hot Springs I ate at the Whistle stop cafe and had breakfast. I tell everyone to eat there, goooood eatin.

    Default Boo buckets washing out?

How well do the boo buckets do when they are dropped under a bridge next to a piling and the lake comes up with heavy rains?? Will they wash out? roll over? What about if they were sunk in the mouth of a subsidiary creek next to the main river/ lake channel??? Somebodies thoughts please
