Hey CF, in my 3/4 A. pond, I put in three (double stacked) weighted down the first year my pond was built. Not so much for the Crappie ,but to give the FHM something flat to spawn under. I see the fry swiming around them quite a bit, and assume the FH's are still using them to spawn.

If I were using pallets as crappie structure, I would consider the plastic type and stack about three or four secured together. Kinda like a 'crappie hotel".

We use hardwood pallets with 2' stakes spaced no closer than 8'' . Best to use 3 to 6 pallets to a spot. The bigger makes it easier to find.
