I had an idea yesterday, and want to see what you experts thought. If a bucket of bamboo works great (and I know they do), then what would a length of the black plastic drainage tubeing from lowes (4") do filled with quickkrete made into a circle, and then boo stuck thru it.
Shouldn't it make a much larger structure with less boo, and less materials? Something like the picture I attached?

I think it would work after you figured out how to get a crane to lift the thing out of the boat to sink. Seems like it would be aweful heavy.
I agree toooooooooooooooooo much weight.....

Two men & a boy & a crane. Good thinking tho.........
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
Depends on how big a boat you got. A buddy has a rig built for his boat out of 3/4" plywood that he puts stakebeds on. When he gets into position he jacks one side up with a hydralic jack and the bed slides into the water. Some of his beds are 8'X10' with a bunch of concrete blocks to sink
My thoughts and figuring is that 1 bag of rete is about 0.6 cu. ft of volume , and 0.6 cu ft of volume in a 4 inch pipe should be about 5-6foot long, so if I take a 10 ft piece of pipe, fill it with 2 bags of crete (160 lb) I should be able to make a circle about 3 ft across. On that I should be able to fit 8-10 stalks of boo on it, then just slide the whole dern thing off the front of the boat using a couple of 2x4's.

That would work but expensive.

Sounds like you've done your homework.I think you should try it, If it works you tell us. If not, you can still fish it, as long as you know where it's at. Good Luck with it and keep us posted.
What about using sand insted of crete?
