    Default Need Info

I'm about to start building some condos and need a little info. I can get some boo that is about 20 feet tall. Do you make any condo this tall, or should I cut it in half? How do you keep the boo from laying over while the crete is drying? I'm also going to build some out of pvc, and some out of wood about 10 feet tall.

Do jigs get hung up in the boo very bad?

Thanks for any and all info you can give me.

The tall boo can be laid down with a weight in the middle. It works great this way too. Yoiu can use boo bundled and weighted without pouring concrete. Try using a bucket lid with holes to hold apart in the middle and tie but ends together.
As far as height it depends on water depth in your lake. Here I seldom build stakebeds over 2' tall and place it water 5 to 10' depth at low pool.
Keeping boo up while concrete dries can be a problem. I use buckets with fist sized rocks and tie to a tree or fence. Add soupy concrete to buckets and let dry. This also saves on concrete.

Been awhuile since I made any structure but I've made condos with 20' or taller boo and drop them in water up to 35' deep. Remember, you aint setting them for spawning crappie...not necessary. You just fish the banks during the spawn. Any other time is time to fish your structure...and that's when the fish will be in deeper water. I usually put out structure with the tops coming within 5'-10' of the surface. Then you have suspended crappie and hot weather crappie covered.

    Default Condos

Here is some condos I have built......
I like the stick condos the best.... christmas trees & boo is mostly gone in 2 or 3 years... stick condos will be there for years and years....
I line up the stick condos on the edge of a drop off and they hold crappie great.... And I very seldom hang up & if I do hang up I can get loose very easy.... The plastic buckets keep from scratching up your boat and they are very easy to put out.... I do it by my self....

CT, looks like you "do your homework" and that's pretty much what it takes to stay consistantly catching fish. You also have some great looking structure for ALL depths.

I have a saying I clearly believe in.."Build it and they will come"........end of story.

I just went out to the garden and used a form for the concrete (24"X18") and se it on the ground. Stuck the boo in the dirt in the desired configuration and poured the crete to it. Let dry for a couple days and pryed up with a shovel. I then bungy the boo so its not as spread out until I'm ready to drop.
