Don't count on it. I do work at a lot of homes here in Ohio where a homeowner thought bamboo looked pretty. Within a couple years they are overtaken by it. They flat beg you to come cut it down, but it grows right back the following year bigger and badder than the last. Picture 10' tall dandelions . Without the flowers of course.:D

I am trying to get the go ahead from the city of Little Rock and the port authority to use it as a "natural" fence. I think they are too worried about it encroaching up on the neightbors. I wished I'd never brought it up. It is easier to ask forgivness than for permission.

Also fellas, there's boo and there's boo. Some species are called clumping boo and they grow in a clump and don't spread quickly. Then there's running boo and you'll have a time catching it. Do a little on line research before you leap. There's much to be learned about boo.

Here's Your Answer. Grow It In 5 Gallon Buckets. When It Gets To The Height You Want Just Cut It At The Level Of You Dirt. The Roots Will Continue To Grow New Shoots For Your Next Batch Of Beds. Bamboo Can Grow As Tall As 10 Feet In Two Weeks. The Roots Grow Just Under The Soil At A Rate Of 1 Foot Every Two Days In Good Conditions So I Would Not Advise Planting On Your Property. Bad Idea!!!!! You Really Can't Control Or Contain It All The Time. You Can In A Bucket Though.
I Use This Method Allot. A Nicely Painted Bucket With 6 Foot Bamboo Looks Nice As Well.
