Question about putting out structure on lake
I have been putting out structure for crappie on two lakes for years. One of the lakes had a leak in the dam a couple of years ago, so they dropped the water level 13 feet to make the repairs. With the level down for 2 years, grass, bushes, small trees, etc started to grow on what was once the lake bottom. Two years later, they have finally fixed the dam and raised the water to the normal level. I would like to put out new structure between 15-20' deep and start fishing the lake again. My question is, would it be a waste of time to put the structure out when all of that brush that was growing is now 13' under water? If I put the structure out at 15', it would only be 2' deeper than all of the natural stuff that is now submerged.

Most of that new growth will be gone in a couple years. Fishing should be hot over the new growth.

Here on Lake Nimrod we experienced high water all thru the spawnimg season. One of the patterns that got hot was fishing over the tops of submerged buckbrush. the slabs were sitting right in the tops of these bushes 5 or 6 feet down. Just keep submerged brush on your graph and you were in business!
