    Default Favorite time

Yep winter is my favorite time to put out cover. Avoid snakes, ticks, spiders and other fishermen that way. Also much more comfortable to work in the cold weather.

With the side scan you can not hide any structure....

    Default Side Scan Stealth

Hey Crappie Texan. Until a couple of weeks ago I would have agreed with you But I have discovered there is cover that is very stealthy to side scan. I put them out on a hunch and sure enough without GPS and bottom sonar I can not see them.

    Default Stealth

Green bushes no leaves with small limbs I would say not more than 10 feet long. I think the key is small limbs. I know I will have to defend this post so here it goes. I have out over 125 spots, PVC, Stake Beds, Slab Beds, and brush from Persimmon, Willow, Iron Wood even a couple Christmas trees I just hated to waste. All of them I can see fine on the Side Image except the smaller green bushes I put on hard bottom. There are traces that there might be something there but not enough to make the normal fisherman go back to. Give it a try and see for yourself.
I am thinking the best offense against side scan is a good defense.

We put condos whenever possible. We dropped 30 condos three weeks ago. We go in the dark in the summer.

The cooler months are alot nicer for doing the work. Winter time allows no ticks, bugs, etc. But ANYTIME would be good as youre putting out cover for the baitfish and this will draw fish. So my suggestion would be ANYTIME you feel like fooling with it!
