I've got a whole passel of bamboo and going to make some condos, the only issue is it is shedding leaves like crazy. Am I wasting my time ?

Not in my opinion. I think it works better just spread out in clusters standing upright without the leaves. They won't stay long anyway when placed in water.

The condos we built last year were full of leaves. Might not of been a leaf left when covered with water.
