Hey whiskerwhipper, let us all know how that turns out...

I like sushi, but only the cooked kind. Tried that raw stuff and just couldn't stomach it. I agree with Wiskerwipper. Steam the fish before you eat. Seen some worms in these fish. I have seen many a scifi movies that says this would not be a good idea.

Reminds me of the commercial with Terry Bradshaw. That looks like bait to me.

I would concur with what people said on the dangers... what you might want to do is look for some farm raised crappie somewhere, where the fish is grown in a private pond in very controlled areas. Granted, under such circumstances it loses a bit of its taste... but its worth a shot.
I've had catfish sashimi before, and it was quite good.

If you see me eating seaweed and raw fish it's because I've burned every last piece of wood on the island I'm stranded on and it would be a good idea to call the coast guard and notify my family that I'm still alive.

Sushi is very good and very tasty if its smells fishy or taste fishy it is not good sushi. As fowlmood said the word stands for the type of rice used and the way it is prepared. you can stick a corn dog in the wrap of nori and rice and it would be a sushi roll. sushi its self is the pad of rice with a topping could be raw fish or other items. However you should never use fresh water fish the impurities in the water are in the fish whether it be parasites high mercury or so on. if you insist on using fresh water fish please cook it throughly smoking is fine whether it can be cold or hot smoke. even maybe a crappie tempura that would be interesting.

I have eaten crappie sushi (sashimi)
Last year I cleaned a crappie and ate sashimi, and it was delicious. I brought a tube of pre-made wasabi with me. I wished that I had better wasabi, but it was the best sushi (I know it is sashimi, but I will use the sushi term) that I have ever enjoyed. At the time I had never heard of teh warnings against eating freshwater fish raw. I still don't know if I believe these warnings. COuld someone provide me with a reliable source that warns against eating raw freshwater fish? I do not understand whyt freshwater would be bad, but saltwater would be okay. Thanks you in advance for your help.
