    Default Hot Spiced Wine

Here is one for the wives to to use for Christmas entertainment parties.

    HOT SPICED WINE

    4 cups water
    3 cups sugar
    12 whole cloves
    6 whole allspice
    4 inches of stick cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger
    rind of 1 orange
    rind of 1 lemon
    2 cups orange juice, strained
    1 cup lemon juice, strained
1 bottle [fifth] 25.6 oz burgundy or claret

In a saucepan combine the water, sugar, spices and citrus
rinds. Bring to a boil, stiring to dissolve the sugar. Simmer
for 10 to 15 minutes, remove from the heat. Then add wine and let stand for an hour. Strain and don,t allow it to boil again. I put it in a crock pot to keep hot. Serve in mugs or cups.
