I usually go 3 times with my oil before changing. I pour it thru a strainer back into the bottle and keep it in the fridge. I dont think length of time matters
    like that.

what kind of strainer do you use? I been googling this and not finding anything convenient or cheap. Used a coffee filter once but don't always have something to hold the filter just right. corn oil has gotten expensive.

We use plain veg. oil but I prefer peanut oil. Peanut oil can take higher temps before burning. Usually we leave the oil in the electric fryer until it starts turning dark. When it cools we replace the lid.

We strain our used oil with a paper towel placed in side of a strainer. Gets the oil real clean.

Fine wire mesh. You use corn oil? I have in a pinch but prefer peanut or plain ol veg oil.

Oil will go bad after a while, even unused oil. I usually strain and put in freezer. I noticed in Wal Mart yesterday 3 gal peanut oil was $42.00. Vegetable oils from $8.00-$10.00 per gal. Will have to take care of oil to get the most out of it now.
