Next time I come home with some fresh fish I'm thinking about trying to grill some whole fish. Anyone do this?
I've seen it done on TV quite a few times with trout but have never done it myself and wonder if it would be good with Crappie or perch.
The recipe I saw was real simple:
Green onions inside the fish, bacon and seasoning on the outside and grill over wood fire or coals campfire style.
I plan to buy a grill basket to make cooking a little easier.
Currently a non-fishing slacker! (not for too much longer)
let us know how it is
FF I do this a good bit especially when I just catch enough for supper and it is extremely good, fix you a baked potato some corn on the cob and any other veggies and then hang on!
I think I would leave the bacon off and coat with olive oil and cajun seasoning. If you ever grill salmon fillets try rubbing grape jelly on each side and let the sugar char a little. UMUMUM good!
I grill fillets and whole White Perch, along with a lot of other fish. Lemon and pepper with butter or mix butter and olive oil if you want to cut down on the butter. Tony's and butter, Old bay seasoning and butter. I like to put sliced onions, lemons on top of fish. You can put green onions inside with either dill or rosemary and thyme. I think W.P. are just good anyway you fix them. I like the grill pan, the one with holes in it better than the basket.
