    Default canned crappie

was wondering if any one have ever tried canning crappie,

I seem to be getting to many frozen crappie fillets and fall is just around the corner and that always produces many bags of fish, maybe i need to start throwing my fish back :D

    just looking for options

    thanks

Pick out a neighborhood church and call the preacher and ask if there is a needy family ...Do something nice and cook a mess and give to someone who isn't able to get out and fish...Take some to work...There is a group home in every town....One night when you get finished fishing just offer a mess of fish to folks you pass by..OR you can always send me a mess...hahhahahha.........

Ask around the marina and see if there are any old crappie fishermen that can not fish any longer. I know they would love to have some crappie fillets. One named Mickey Kruebbe from Carthage, Tx. got alzheimers and could not go fishing any longer. I brought him some fillets and he enjoyed them so very much. He was a great crappie angler! And a great friend.

This thread shows why I like this forum so much. Good folks, thinking about other folks. If the old one's hadn't shown us, we wouldn't have extras. Pass it on........

i know a feller that cans brim. i dont see why crappie couldnt be done the same way. he catches small brim, cleans em and stuffs em in quart canning jars, adds a little water and some salt and cans em. when he gets ready for some fish patties, he uses em just like using salmon and makes his patties the same way. the bones get soft like sardine bones and he eats bones and all. swears by em
