    Question Crappie Taco's

Anyone have this recipie? I keep hearing about fish taco's in restuarants, but I'm afraid of messing it up making it from scratch, LOL! Thanks in advance.

Found this previous thread with a delicious looking recipe. I'm thinking I might make it for the girlfriend and roommates tonight.

I prefer to just fry, without a coating in a skillet in a light oil, like Canola or Peanut oil.

Cool a touch and break up a bit into some bit sized pieces. I put in a double corn tortilla, spritz of lime and some cilantro on top. I also like some green salsa on mine. I'm very west coast in my preferences on fish tacos, but heck, I'll eat em anyway I can get em.

To make the corn tortillas behave, quick fry them in some hot oil. Just heat some oil up till you can get a lil sizzle from a corn tortilla dipped in it. Then just lay the tortilla in it and let it heat for a few seconds, flip it, and let heat again. Drain on some paper towels or pat the oil off. They will not break apart so easily and will be a bit more pliable. I use two per taco. Yum.

I've never been to the West coast, so I've never had 'real' fish tacos, but there are two places around here (Delaware) that make good ones. The first uses blackened mahi mahi, cooks it to almost done, than puts it in the tortilla with cheese and bakes until complete. The cheese melts just as the fish finishes cooking. The second place serves fried catfish tacos. The crispier the fish the better the tacos. Each places serves them with a side of guac' and some cajun rice. I always add a good splash of hot sauce, but then again, I do that with everything.
Too make a long story short (too late), you can blacken or fry your fish to make tacos and either way will come out good.

Sounds like several others do what I thought I'd invented. I just fry them up, and break them into small pieces. Add lettuce and salsa in a tortilla and devour! I absolutely love them, and it's a great way to make a meal without sides.
