we have alot of them this year and arent going to make any jelly . i found a recipe for the syrup on a site and wondered if anyone has ever used this on anything, they say it is for pancakes, or you can glaze it over pork or a brisket and smoke it. any one ever try this.

it takes 1 and 1/2 cups muscadine juice, 1 and 1/4 cups sugar, 1/3 cup corn syrup, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. combine all in sauce pan, bring to boil, stirring constantly, let boil at full boil for 2 minutes and skim foam off top. can in a water bath for later use. it really looks like jam to me, but tastes great

I haven't tried muscadine syrup but I've tried pecan syrup and it was great. Last week end we drove to Moselle MS to Ashmore Vineyards and pick 30 pounds of them golden ones. They were at their ripest and tasted like wine. I put them up in the freezer and will take some out as needed.

i have tossed around the vineyard idea for a few yrs. now and we are getting to the point that we are ready to give it a try. maybe try and grow 4 or 5 different varieties and go from there. we have around 25-30 mature plants in the woods we tied flagging tape around and are going to replant on the trellaces when they lose their leaves. around here alot of the wineries buy their fruit instead of growing it anymore
