Shrimp Salad Using Crappie
I bought a small wire basket at the 99 cent store to hold the fillets
it just fits in to my sauce pan, has two wire handles for lifting it is light wire.
made my own boil
4ea crappie fillets
4 cups water or enough to just cover fish
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons salt
bring water to a boil
add fish and boil 2 minutes
then turn off fire and let steep for 3 minutes.
this is great to eat just like that if you like shrimp or crawfish.
but Kay is making a shrimp salad to put it into
2 small sweet pickles diced
1/4 small onion diced
1 stalk of celery diced
cup small elbow macaroni cooked
about two tablespoons miracle whip ( add more if to dry)
add cut up cooked crappie
mix together serve

i have heard about using crappie and bluegill as poor man's shrimp. are they really as good?
-
They are great I eat it all the time good for my Heart not fried and super the next day or week just keep in the frig

once the fish is boiled it flakes up good and gets mixed in better than the shrimp.
it is a quick and easy meal to fix after coming in late and tired from a fishing trip or work.
also is very tasty.
and just another way to fix crappie besides frying or grilling.
