• A smart fishing pole.

TACKOBOX POLETAP SMARTROD is the Worlds First And Only Computerized Fishing Pole!

Wow, what an idea. A smart fishing pole. It tells you when you have a fish on the line. Now you can take that nap in peace while resting at the shoreline of your favorite fishing hole. It's about time somebody came up with something like this. It uses accelerometer technology like whats in your smart phone.

The way it reacts and works is wild. Motion does not set it off. It needs the tug of a fish, the vibration of a bite. You can actually wave the rod around and it does not go off. Yet, tap it ever so slightly in High Sensitivity mode, and the alarm is sound and it flashes red. This works when fishing from shore, or even on a boat while trolling (set to medium or low sensitivity).

The bite was on for dipping Lilly Pads here on Lake Griffin so I did not get a chance to do any trolling with it. But I did try it bank fishing. I set it up on the bank by my house, and lo and behold, the rod lit up, went bling bling, and I caught me a catfish. All while I was in my house watching TV and just occasionally glancing out through the sliding glass doors. I was pretty far away, so the sound is not what alerted me, it was the light. Andin the dark night it's quite bright. I really think they have a great idea here, I like it.

Back on the subject of trolling with this rod. I can see that if you have a spider rig setup with four poles on one t-bar that maybe using one of these rods in one of the holders would allow for the notification of a fish bite on any of the four poles. Using this and an I-Pilot, and you can nap while you spider rig! Now wouldn't that be funny, and cool.

This particular pole is stiff and good for catfishing or trolling.

The smart part is real sleek and small. It's just the part you see here to the left of the spinning reel.

well.....next will be an automatic reel that sets the hook and reels in the fish for you? might as well have someone deliver fish to your house, pre-cleaned and cooked the way you like it and serve it to you on a tray so you never have to get out of your recliner. thanks, but i already have a wife! lol

seriously, if i can't stay awake long enough to detect a bite on my own, i'm staying home. geez

i am sure there will be a market for this product. I will not be on that list. If I get that lazy about my fishing I will take up another hobby.

First I want to thank Slab for taking the time to test and review our POLETPAP SMARTROD. We are currently talking with retail and hope to be able to have a home where it can be purchased from soon. We plan to keep the rods and combos as affordable as possible. We believe this is great for the recreational fisherman. It's also good when fishing with multiple rods while bank fishing ,trolling or fishing at night. And yes this would be good for the lazy fisherman myself included that sometimes just wants to get out on the lake, relax and have a cold one. People have fished with bells, bobbers, carp alarms, and flags forever. This is just a higher level of bite detection with the convenience of being built into the rod. I will keep crappie.com updated on our progress, and thank you all for taking the time to look at our products.
