Well I put the salt equipment aside & set out to a familiar fresh water haunt, boy OH boy, it's was just what the Doctor ordered, slight breeze all morning til' around 10:30 & packed it in at 11am. 22 total crappie with a few surprises in the mix. Mr. crappie blue tuxedo & pearl paddle tails seen the most action. (2) 14" (4) 13" were the best fish & with my section "very small" of the freezer full, all swim free to be caught again. Water temps started at 84F, but note lake level loooow, fished 6ft everywhere. Was on the water at 6:30, but didn't have a bite until 8am, then total rod bender on both sides of the boat pull the 1st in gar "ugh" then with a splash from the 2nd, a greeny, yes I haven't caught 1 in some time , but would total 2 today. At this point I was thinking, to early in the season for specks yet, than either I went over the right area or the crappie Gods wanted to throw me a bone because the next 1 1/2 hr...IT WAS ON....pic of a triple on the floor, some of the nicer ones, greeny & gar. For this early in the season, I think where're in for a better year than last!
