Default Anyone else enjoy fishing for bullheads??

I live up in Mass and unfortunately we don't really have big cats up here, unless you are willing to travel great distances. One of my favorite things to do though is catch bullheads ( or hornpouts as we call 'em around these parts) on light tackle. On a hot July or August night, I can rake in 10+ in an hour, easy. Great fun!

I don't target them, but I frequently catch them. They are fun on light tackle.

I used to target them just for fun in San Diego, CA.... I can't find a place that has them here in NC unless someone's farm pond holds some I've also been reading that they make great Flathead bait.

I catch them whenever I use nightcrawlers for small channel cats. They make great flathead bait, and if prepared correctly, taste very good.

Dont target them, but I have good memories as a kid catching those things in creeks. I remember we would build a fire and cook em on a stick on the creek bank, Man that tasted awful, but we put on like it was the greastest thing in the world. Good memories

The bullhead got too big - man he was fat. released him at a little pond behind a grade school so at least I know it wont get fished at all.
