    we use gallon jugs washed out with dawn dish detergent. we tie 3 - 8 ft of line to them with a 6/0 -8/0 hook. we put cut bait on them and drop them out . its pretty simple but a blast to do with kids on the weekends. we turn all our fish back . just catch them for fun with the kids.

    In MO, it is illegal to use any container that previously had any chemical in it. Be careful to check your state regulations regarding using detergant bottles.

    In TX, our jugs must be white unless you are a commercial fisherman, then orange. Purple jugs seem like they would be somewhat difficult to see at night or in some wave action.
