Thread: Fresno & Madera area

Are there any lakes in the Madera or Fresno areas for crappie fishing? I'll be out there for a few weeks and may get some time to go fishing. I've never fished in California but I've heard it can produce some nice crappie.

I checked the reports and there doesn't seem to be anything reported in the area. I live about 4 hours away so I have never fished there. Some lakes you might want to look into are Millerton lake, San Luis Reservoir, and Pine flat reservoir. I know there are some good trout lakes up there and also some good striper fishing if that interests you at all.

I am in the process of trying to find them on Lake Kaweah now. It is SE of Fresno just a little over an hour. Went last weekend, but ended up playing with the new sonar more than fish. Pine Flat is another good lake just East of Fresno... and is supposed to have some fairly good crappie in it, but I haven't tried to find them there...... yet.
