    Default Red Ear Perches?

New to this site, but have enjoyed reading the posts. I to fish the crappies, mostly at Lake Cachuma. But my favorite is fishing for perch. I enjoy eating them much more than the crappie. Here is my PB
She was 4.1 pounds, and I caught her about 5 years ago. I have caught many perch in my life, but my next biggest is slightly less then 3#. This board has a perch board, but not really pertaining to us out west. So, that being said, I thought I would start a link here, and see whats up in the other lakes you guys are fishing. On a side note, I caught 1 crappie this weekend accidently while trolling for trout. Good fishin Mikey

Asked the taxidermy guy to paint it as it looks in spawn...they turn kinda irradescent black, so you have a hard time seeing em in the shallows. It IS a red ear sunfish officially, but the brothers do call em perch. We have a good supply of fresh water clams in the lake, and that is their main grazing food. Aren't there any Californians here that share my passion for catching these? Mikey

Oh yea! Down here in San Diego I find them in San Vicente reservoir and over in the Colorado River near Yuma.
