Thank-you for that BPcrappie, I googled it and it came up, too. With this rain and warm nights, it could be an early spawn. I'd say the "start" no later than March 15th.
I e-mailed Engelbright Lake, the rental guy never even replied, supposed to be good over there, too. I tried Camanche in April 2014, huge lake. No Crappie and no trout, either. Need a boat.

White crappie can be caught in a lot of sloughs there's a nice crappie hole at the port of Sacramento and also the sitter bypass is a good spot for crappie as well

Google search Penny Bait and Tackle Sacramento and talk to them

I tried a little bit at the Port in my Kayak in January but didn't have any luck. Tough though when I don't yet have a fish Finder to help out a little and it was my first time launching there so not all that familiar. Another problem is I don't like catching them on Minnow's so also makes it a little tougher to locate them. Gotta be less stubborn...haha!

Going to try Hennessy in my kayak today. Just got a new battery for the fish finder, so we will see if they have any there.

Beautiful looking foothill lake that I drive by when going wine tasting in Napa but I have never fished it as it a good drive away. I would guess it has Crappie. Let us know how you do.

No luck today. There were a few bass in the tule grass, lots of bait back in the creeks, but I did not locate the crappie. Need to try Berryessa.
