Default im seeing red

I noticed alot of the crappie that i pull turn red around the tail is this stress or just the way they are

They are red when you pull them in or they turn red while being held in the boat?

i notice they turn red after being on the boat i also notice that when i leave them on a stringer hanging of the boat they seem to attract other crappie its so weird it seems like they give off this attraction i dont know maybe all in my head

some of the male crappies i caught has no tail at all. Only the females have a nice healthy tail. I think it's because they are making nests or the male are beating the heck outta each other.
