Default Post Thunderstorm and Cold Front Conditions?

I'm pretty new to Crappie fishing and am coming to Weiss lake this Monday for the week.

Right now the weather forecast is calling for thunderstorms Monday, followed by cold front conditions for the following three days. I'm fine with fishing in rain, but I would like to be doing it right at least.

How and where should I go to crappie fish during the cold front with overnight temperatures dropping into the 30's?

What's going to be the best presentation?

Do I use minnows on a bare hook in shoreline lay-downs and around stumps, docks, etc.? Do I forget shoreline and look for deeper water or will they relate to cover under docks?

Mouths of creek channels in bays, mainlake?

    Depths to target?

    Marabou or plastics?

    Colors?

Not setup for longlining, but can hold a couple rods.

Thanks, I'm really at a loss here, with a lot of investment into this week of vacation coming from northern Ohio.

I have a Hotspots fishing map of the lake for location reference.
If you prefer to pm me any places to try, I'd really appreciate it.

Our cold fronts have been going on for the past few weeks. Not sure about Weiss, but Logan Martin temp dropped couple weeks ago to the mid to low 50's. Most that I have been catching are in the mouth of creeks close to deeper water. But I have caught my biggest fish this year in 6 foot of water last week. It's really gonna be a guessing game.

There are some good places to start being written about in the Alabama thread on spring camp.

We usually go to Weiss the 2nd week of March every year, but didn't get to this year because of some health issues. We've fought thunderstorms, bitter cold, snow, tornados, cold fronts, blue bird skies...you name it. Put in at JR's and run up to Little River and do what everyone else is doing. If you don't do any good, run on back into Little Spring Creek and try the shallow water. This time of the year with unsettled weather, that's your best bet - has pretty much always worked for us. If wind is just too bad, trailer down to Blue Springs dock and try around there. Have had some really good luck there on bad windy days. Good luck. Wish I was going with you.

Solid advice, but just so there's no confusion for anyone reading this, as to "where" JR's is ... it's no longer called JR's Marina, it's called Little River Marina & Lodge. (and has been for years)

Shows you how many years I've been going down there, and how old school I am. Afraid it'll always be JR's to me.

I stick with this strategy : Never do the same thing at the same depth, with the same bait for longer than 20 mins . Want take a few hours till you will be going shallow or deeper for sure . That being said I believe there are always fish on the edges of creeks at the drops at the mouths of creeks . That's where I go any time it gets tough . jmo.
