I don't bass fish much but my favorite and the one I generally start with is a spinnerbait. You can jig it, slow roll it on bottom or burn it back to the boat just under the surface. You can count it down and retrieve it at all different depths and there are a lot of size, color, blade combinations. I start with it most of the time to try and determine the "mood" of the bass for the day. If nothing on a spinnerbait I go to crawling something on bottom, like a worm/jig or creature bait. If I can determine a depth with a spinner then I will sometimes try to maintain the depth better with a crankbait, or after catching some with a spinnerbait then go back through the area with a crankbait. Hope this helps your project.

90% of any type of fishing is just getting out there and spending time on the water...

Other than that... Definitely reading the season as well as the weather is important. Like others have said here, run-and-gun first to find the fish and then slow it down and finesse.

I think one of the most important things i have learned is to not spend too much time on unproductive water. You can find a spot that looks PERFECT, but underwater its another ball game. My strategy nowdays is throw a few casts and if no bite, KEEP MOVING. So many factors go into where the fish will be on any given day. And a lot of factors go into what and IF they will bite, as well.

My favorite bass fishing technique is top water fishing with a Zara Spook or Pop-R. I love the way big bass blow up on them. Early morning or late evening is the best time to fish them. They also work all day long on cloudy and overcast days.

If it's sunny, you will find me throwing a crankbait or slow crawling a Carolina rigged plastic worm.

you need to match the size of bait that the fish are feeding on.

sometimes you see fish feeding on top and you cant get them to hit.
The bass maybe feeding on new hatch that are very small so a lot
of times you can catch them on a clear top water bait because the
bass cant make out how big it is.

    Default bass

that totally depends on the lake and what their eating. My favorite normal techniques are buzzbait, spinnerbait and then pitching a jig in HEAVY cover. I have also targeted big bass with baits that weigh a pound and a good day on those will dwarf all the other three.

The best way to catch bass is texas rig senkos worked slow along the shorelines, cast & let it sink to bottom (30sec.) then move the bait 6/12in. at a time, if nothing move down and repeat working the whole shore line area. if there is bass you will catch them

Texas rigged worms and creature baits are my go to bait. Then spinnerbaits and jig and pig combos. This is my senior year too:D I hope I'm not to late giving you this info and good luck on your project.
