Default Blue Cat Population in Smithville

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Blue cat population in Smithville? Where is a good place to catch them?
And Is there a decent size to them?

There are blue cats in Smithville. However, the numbers of blues are pretty low compared to channel and flathead catfish numbers in the lake. I haven't seen one in the years I have sampled catfish with Eric and Scott. We have heard of a few caught by anglers but very rarely.

Matt is correct. The blue cat population is lower, but the high water year 5 years ago should be giving a boost to the population. Blue cats produce better in flood conditions. Last time we had high water to flood some of the shallow flats up the lake was about 5 years ago. I catch them occasionally while trot lining for flatheads.

Thanks for the reply. I had a guy tell me that they catch big Blues all the time in Smithville so I thought I would ask some trust worthy people before I go trying my luck. By the way some advice on a good area to try would sure be appreciated.
