Can you guys help a poor boy out? What time of year do crappie spawn on Millwood? My Grandpa love to catch crappie, however really struggles. He's wanting to make the 400 trip south to get in on some good action.
Thanks,
Brad

Brad, I guide on Lake Greeson just northeast of Millwood. They will spawn there about the same time. They will spawn when the water temp in the shallows is in the 60's. Of course, the time of year will vary each year. That could be anytime from March through May. The crappie on Greeson haven't really entered into their normal winter pattern so it is possible we might have an early spawn this year.
Only by way of suggestion, since you are considering coming all that way you might as well guarantee yourself some fish. If you come to Greeson instead it would be my pleasure to guide you on Greeson and help point you in the right direction each other day you stay there. I also have a camper that I rent. All the info is on my website. The link is below.

Shock,
We fish Millwood regularly and typically the crappie will head for the creek mouths the last week of February. The spawn gets in full swing toward the back end of March. We catch fish shallow as late as May.
With that being said, this year is anything but typical. They drew down the lake in December to do some repairs. I did not even fish over there this winter. I have had people tell me they never really got into a "winter pattern" . The fishing has been slow.
Typically, when the water temps get in the low 50s, they head for the major creek mouths. This is my favorite crankbait time. The white bass tend to run up the Little River about the same time.

Thanks for the great info. I appreciate all the help and hopefully can turn it into a good stringer.
Thanks Again,
Brad
