    Default White Oak

I was looking at the arkansas map the other day and saw White Oak Lake, which I knew about but had forgotten. I dont believe Ive seen many people mention anything about it so I was wandering if it was a good lake to fish. It seems to have some size to it and the AGFC brags about it in its literature (but then again they brag that all of their lakes are top notch). Opinions?

I have never been crappie fishing on it personally, but there is some REAL good green carp fishing on white oak. I plan to make a trip for crappie this spring.

Thats interesting. What i was thinking about doing, since I have a week off in late March, was heading down to that part of the state and hitting a few lakes I havent been to. Hit Greeson last year and had decent luck. White Oak stuck out on the map but i know there are a few others in that area. Just trying to put together a plan and seeking advice. Thought about Chicot, since they have cabins, but I dont know. I hear conflicting stories on that lake.

I have camped at the park on the lake yearly for many years and plan on camping again this year in Feb/Mar. White Oak is a great bass lake altho I mostly enjoy crappie (pan) fishing. Nice sized crappie, 15 inch. Another cpl of good lakes in the area for crappie are Bragg and Gurdon. Both also have bass but Gurdon in addition to bass has very nice sized readear and gills. Crappie size is up to 15 in both lakes, my largest (19-7/8) in Gurdon. I only fly fish and find, not to bragg, I do alot more catching than the other guys. I'm the guy in the cataraft and if you see people bank fishing you might meet someone I 'v given fish too. I catch and release mostly, or bring some in for the shore fisherman.
