    Default Swing'n em every day

This was my fourth day to fish this week . My 4th limit this week and released lots more . Took 2 hours to catch a limit today , stayed a couple more hours and culled. Figure I caught another limit of good keepers released to thump another day . I have given so many limits away , I need to stop keeping any .Not best photo off my phone but all good fish .Funny thing , a local guy here told me you can't sit right on top of brush and catch them . lol Red Huckabee rods and purple/chartreuse jigs swing'n as usual .Have been catching them on 3 different lakes lately but all producing good stringers .

Nimrod ... If you don't mind I would like to ask you a question. I have never really fished jigging vertically over brush etc ... being fairly inexperienced I would use a bobber and cast to them. Do you mind explaining how you would fish vertically. Would you use anchors or trolling motor to stay in place ? How deep does the brush etc need to be in order to fish vertically over them ? Thank you

Kodiak, this is an article that describes one way of vertical fishing.
    http://www.crappie.com/crappie/crapp...tical-casting/

It can be done in just about any depth of water. I have caught them vertical jigging in less than 2 feet. The way NIMROD does it works better in water 12 feet or less due to his method of swinging the fish into the boat. Very deep and you have to use the reel to assist. You can also grab the line below the first guide to pull some line and assist.

I use the trolling motor to position the boat which is how I have seen NIMROD fishing, though he is obviously far more effective at it.

I have watched him from the deck of my boat set the hook and swing em in in one fluid motion. I have adopted this method also and have complete faith in it effectiveness. If I have left anything out or am incorrect I imagine NIMROD will be along and clear it up.

Great catch NIMROD. Thanks for sharing.

I've been lurking on your posts for a while. Another nice mess of fish. Congrats. What is the water clarity like where you're fishing the purple/chart jigs? I don't think I even own any of that color but your posts are making me rethink that. Our water is very clear here though.

Guys I fish any color water with same color jig most of the time . I have fished 2' to 16' and swung them in without much trouble . If I fish much deeper or extreme muddy in spring is about only time I change jigs . Then it is 1/4 oz jig in orange/charteruse glow . I fish some lakes where you seldom catch many throwbacks . But on Nimrod sometimes the small ones can numerous . I usually move after catching a couple drinks because I am looking for good ones . Water clarity can effect bite in shallow water . lately on one lake we been fishing it has gotten so clear , the bite is tough unless you fish deeper with wind . When water is stained to muddy I don't worry much about spooking them . Always approach your spot from down wind and run troller as low as possible .I hope I answered most of your questions .

Your wrong at one point It works at 2 to 13' well with the rods I am using . I can raise or lower these 11' rods to adjust for depth as I fish open water and submerged cover . My preferred depth fishing most lakes is 6 to 12' and yes I fish 2 poles and can swing a 2lber with one hand if needed . These Huckabee pulling poles have plenty of backbone , I use jigs with big enough hooks I don't need a net . .I have trouble swinging them from deeper depths with out pulling up a few feet. Last winter had to reel up line before swing in fish , at one point fished 25 to 40 '

You would be surprised how many 10 to 12' fish we throw back sometimes . Good thing fish have short memories . One lake I was fishing this spring the fishing pressure was so great it was crazy . We would catch several good fish with one or more tears or hook marks in their mouths . They had gotten away or released . Since we swing them in we don't lose many . Most are lost when folks are waiting on the net and they get slack in the line .
