Went to Lake Monticello yesterday with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters from Iowa. We caught quite a few fish but most were white bass and yellow bass, but did catch a few good crappie. It was a beautiful day to be on the lake and the kids had a great time. We fish 35 to 40 feet deep. This is a picture of my granddaughters with 2 of the crappie we caught.

Today is a great day
Nice looking couple of slabs. I will be on Cane Creek again tomorrow. Got me 1/2 lb of rosy reds. Didn't get to fish any today. Shot a couple of ducks, but had to get home for our 2nd Thanksgiving of the year.
BW,
I went to Cane Creek on Friday, and I couldn't boat a single fish. The conditions were perfect, too. No wind, cool, sunny. It was a beautiful morning. The bad thing was I didn't see a single person boat a fish for almost 3 hours. I got back to the ramp around 10:30am, just couldn't stay out there any longer without any action. I was fishing the same area that CEB & I fished, and this time I had low vis line, spider riggin, w/ rosey reds, I did some casting, jig poling around the timber, but couldn't entice any bites. I got the classic story from a local, "they bit good yesterday, just started off slow". Jerry, some conditions for you to ponder; water temps-50F, fishing in 10-12 ft of water w/ hydrilla up to the 5 foot level. I saw fish under the mats, but not as many as I saw a couple of weeks ago. I noticed shad breaking on the surface, and noticed those brown scrap ducks with a beak (don't know what kind they are) eating shad & diving all over the place. I don't know if they were spooking the crappie somewhere else? I varied my line anywhere from 2-5 feet. Had the trolling motor on 1, bumping along because of no wind. Based on my conversations w/ CEB, I think I did everything right but catch fish. It was a bluebird sky, so I think that was the deal. I even tried to get in some wind to take advantage of the ripple on the water. I know that will turn them on sometimes. It was a beautiful day on CC, and very pleasant. I will get back there sometime, but it will be when I'm camping. Driving from England area for a day trip gets expensive. Any advice is very appreciated.
Way to go Jerry!!!
