Crappie Thunders ? ? ? ?
I have been a pretty hard core back/chart jig fisherman ever since I learned how to crappie fish. That being said I went to wally world this morning to get some bobber stops and saw some Crappie Thunders there. Basically a raod runner head with a solid jig body in a variety of color combos. (I got the black/chart ones) So I grabbed a couple. They come in sleeves of two. Anywho I went down to my spot around mayflower and was fishing the normal 8 ft in depth this morning before the weather. Normally I would catch 6/1 ratio of yellow bass/drum/catfish to one crappie on the regular black and chart jigs I use. Seems these crappie thunders are a bit larger than I normally fish and I didn't catch one junk fish the entire time. Did come home with a basket of 10 before the rain hit. Anyone else use these?

I usually buy my crappie thunders at bass pro, & you can get them in groups of 25. I will buy those w/ the road runner heads. Wal Mart actually has the new road runner heads w/ the red hook, & they have the barb/lock for the tube on them. It keeps your tube from sliding down the hook. I like those. I also like to use the crappie pro spinner jigs. They come in black. They are having a sale right now, with free shipping. I've bought several things from them this year, and they are reputable. The crappie pro spinner jigs have more variety of colors than just chartreuse, white & red. That's the only knock I have on blakemore's road runners. I will just about only use spinner jigs to crappie fish with.

I went to bass pro online and couldn't find just the bodies for sale so I did a search of the net and came up empty handed. Whats the link to those jigs you were talking about?

I agree, Randy. The roadrunners with the crappie thunder skirt have a larger profile because of the umbrella shaped skirt. From my experience, size is a trade off (more quality on a larger bait; more thumps on a smaller bait.)
I grew up fishing oxbow lakes and now the AR river mostly. Black/chart has produced all of my life. It's also a good idea to try purple/white and red/chart in muddy water.
Coats, what size RR were you using? The RR that you were using may have been retrieving at a little bit different depth than your regular jig.

I was using the 1/16 ouce Roadrunner Jig head at 8 feet on a slip cork. I got to the lake and it was a mirror for about an hour before the storm came. They were biting so soft most of the time you could hardly tell you had one on at all.

I found them, but it is in a bait kit. You can buy them at the store in memphis separate w/ colors, but i guess they don't have them online. Here is the link to the bait kit.

Yeah I saw that kit on there. I remember seeing the bodies for sale a while ago but I guess they didn't have enough takers.

Here is about the only place you can get the bodies. I have never bought anything from them though. $2.69 for 12 http://www.boatersworld.com/webapp/w...thunder+bodies
You can also get them individually from BPS for .99 a piece (whole jig and skirt) http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...=SearchResults

I found this link but it doesn't work anymore...25 for $3.00. Eh well I sent Blakemore an e-mail.

Andrew,
Thank you for your inquiry about our products.
I do know that Boaters World does carry some of the bodies but not all of them. You can see their selection at www.baotersworld.com
If you cannot find what you are looking for you are more than welcome to purchase them through us. Just call the number below and ask for “mail order” and we will take good care of you. We now sell them in a 12 count box instead of a 25 count bag. This keeps the price down and makes it easier to keep in the tackle box because it is so much smaller.
We look forward to helping you and if you have any further questions please contact me again.

Sir,
I was wondering if you have any distributors that offer the bodies for the Blakemore Crappie Thunders in bulk instead of in a sleeve with jig head already added. I tried searching the web and came up empty handed. It seems Bass Pro had once sold in bulk, but no longer offers that option. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you.
