If you fish conway and are holding back because of the low water level you are missing out. Went fishing Wed...only caught two(Didn't bring any slip corks). Thursday morning I purchased a couple slip corks and fished about 8-10 feet deep in a little hole I found around Mayflower and took home 15 decent crappie on black and chart jigs with chart jig heads and chart nibbles. Friday morning had to get up early to beat the rush to "my" spot(I hate fishing from the bank, but no boat) I limited out after about 4 hours of fishing the same as thursday.
Reports from Adams lake have been sound pretty good aswell. I haven't fished there yet as I said before no boat.
If any of you are driving around the lake and see a blue-greenish chev cavalier with a somewhat skinny 26 yr old fishing around it wearing a tan hat and a blue flannel jacket, its probably me. Stop by and say hi.
Coats, I just got home from up there and I saw that car I think. Was that you I saw walking down 89 about 5pm with about a dozen rods in your hand?
The water is up over 2ft from what it was a couple weeks ago and launching at Adams is no problem except for the traffic. I can't imagine where all the water came from all of a sudden, still 4ft low. Don't try it with much more than a flatbottom and I'm telling you, that ramp crowd was a three-ring circus today and parking went as far up the road as I could see.
Black/chart jig is the ticket. My BIL caught a limit Friday morning, me and the wife got up there about noon and both had limits by 4pm. They were slow this afternoon plus I didn't have enough juice in my battery to work 'em very hard with all the wind. None big enough to gee whiz about but my elbow is a little sore 8*)
I was all hooked up and ready to go somewhere when I stepped out and my hat blew off. I got undressed and went back to bed. Gooch, no body there that was not supposed to be.
Later on I couldn't stand it anymore so I went exploring. The gates are still open at the dam. I checked on three boat landings. The only one that could be used is Adams. As LazyJ reported; it was a traffic nightmare. People were trying to launch as others had aready had all of the wind they could stand and were coming back in.
The AGFC's reason for drawing it down is wearing on my nerves. I didn't see anybody working on their docks.

Several new docks though, did you see the new one right beside Adam's landing? Fancy, roof, must have cost $10k
That's my dilapidated dock right across the cove from the launch, I'm taking off work next week to rebuild. It catches h*ll right there on that point.
Has the AGFC contacted you about permitting your dock? Suposedly, that is what the draw down is all about this time.Originally Posted by LazyJ

I think you responded to me in another thread that mentioned you kept a boat at Paradise Landing. I know Smitty was sick a couple of years ago with a rare cancer. I haven't been by the landing recently. Do you know how he is doing?

That may have been me DR. I kept my boat there for 20 years until last year. I saw Smitty a back in July and he seemed to be doing much better. He's had a really tough go of it the past three or so years. I ran into his wife a couple of months ago and she said he was doing well. That's all I know. Need to call him.Originally Posted by DRPEPPER
I sure liked going over to paradise landing. But that ramp was a booger even when the water was up. Hey coats, I really want to get out on Conway sometime. I've got the boat if you've got the knowledge.
I work for the railroad and I have wierd hours. All the fishing I have done on Conway is from the bank with the exception of the Gold Creek area. Right now they are working on the boat ramp down at the Mayflower Dam and as far as I know most people with boats are going to Adams lake and the word there is 1 1/2 - 2 feet pink minnows/chart jigs around the stumps.
When I left Adams landing today at noon there were at least 60 empty boat trailers, everybody and their momma out crappie fishing. We caught 8 very nice ones all before 8am. Caught at least 50 little yearling stripers which kinda makes me wonder what's going on.
