This river oxbox lake just off US 165 has been marked with a sign "Private - Homeowners only" for about the last 10 years. Keeping a close eye on it over the years, I've noticed ALOT of people launching there lately that obviously don't live there. Anybody have any knowledge of this being a "public" access lake again? Heck of a crappie hole back in the '80's
Tull's/ Willow beach is private. Someone earlier this year posted something about tires being slashed if you launched there. Some folks get willow beach park mistaken for the private lake seen by hwy 165. That is access to the river. I haven't fished over there, but I drive by it every day to go home. best way is if you know someone over there (obviously). Be careful if you decide to go over there.
I'm not sure. I went looking for some public access on old river lake. I didn't get too many friendly stares while I was out there scoutin' around the place.
I work nearby and often toot around there during lunchtime. There was about twenty truck/trailers there today that implied a social/economic status of much less than a homeowner of that subdivision.
I've heard the tire slashing story also. And I do have a friend that owns property on down the highway at "Old River Lake" and I go there often.
Tull's is just so tempting, for over 10 years now hardly anybody has fished it. Just this last couple of months there has seemed to be an influx of 'trespassers'. There's got to be a ton of fish in there nowdays. Anybody live there that wants to be my best friend?
I know a fisherman that thought he could have been tresspassing; but, the wardan was on the lake that day checking liscense. He told my buddy that the lake was public and that locals kept a sign at the ramp to discourage others from fishing there. But, I have also heard of the "Good ole Boy" patrol that has nasty ways of discouraging people off of their fishing hole.
I work just on the other side of the river and go down that highway at least twice a month. I have never seen a boat on that lake. Got to be a reason.
